Yogiraj Shree Shailendra Sharma Guruji is a distinguished Kriya Yogi and spiritual guide. He is regarded as the fifth Guru in the lineage of the great immortal yogi Mahavatar Babaji Maharaj. His life and teachings reflect a deep commitment to Kriya Yoga, spiritual practice, self-awareness, and the exploration of life, death, and the immortal soul.
Born on 10 July 1957 in Bhopal, India, he developed a strong love for reading from an early age. In 1978, he completed his Master’s degree in Political Science from a college in Gwalior. He later cleared the examinations required to join the Indian Army. However, the sudden passing of several close relatives led him to reflect deeply on the meaning of life and death. These questions gradually changed the direction of his life and inspired him to begin a spiritual search.
For several years, he travelled across India in search of an authentic Guru who could teach him the original practice of Kriya Yoga. In 1982, he met Yogiraj Shree Satyacharan Lahiri, the grandson of Lahiri Mahasaya, and received guidance in the Kriya Yoga tradition. His spiritual practice advanced rapidly, and in April 1984 he became the Guru and successor in the lineage.
Over the years, Guruji has offered experiential interpretations of important yogic texts, including the Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Darshan, and the Shiva Sutras. His writings present traditional yogic wisdom through the perspective of disciplined practice and inner experience.
At present, Yogiraj Shree Shailendra Sharma Guruji lives in the ancient smashan complex at Govardhan. He continues his yogic practice, guides disciples from around the world, and engages in philosophical discussions with sincere seekers. His books and teachings offer readers an opportunity to explore the deeper dimensions of yoga, consciousness, and spiritual transformation.
